Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Jamison of Peru and Debbie Cather of Pekin; four grandchildren, Beth (Roy) Goetsch, Randy (Andrea) Jamison, both of Walnut, Deidre Cather and Dustin Cather, both of Pekin; five great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren. was also eagerly anticipating the upcoming birth of his third great-great grandchild.
He had served in the United States Army during World War II.
owned and operated Creve Coeur Auto Sales for 20 years. He then worked for OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria as a Surgery P.T.A., retiring in December of 2006.
enjoyed camping, watching westerns and NASCAR, in particular, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He was also a Chicago Bulls basketball fan. will also be missed by his beloved dog, Benji.
He was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin where he served as leaders with the Methodist Youth Fellowship. He later joined the membership at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Homer United Methodist Church. Pastor Teri Shane will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Additional visitation will be from noon to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at G.A.R Cemetery in Homer. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Champaign VFW Post #5520.
